The budget for science in the coming years will be prioritized according to the tasks of the economy and the needs of industries in the face of sanctions pressure, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said at a meeting of the commission on scientific and technological development. The vice-premier is quoted by the press service of his apparatus.
„At the previous meeting of the commission, all departments involved in the implementation of the state program of scientific and technological development were instructed to determine the priority areas of research and development for the next three years. And now we can already say that for the first time the budget for science is prioritized according to the tasks of the economy. This achieving technological sovereignty and creating our own critical technologies, which the president spoke about,” the official said.
According to him, in 2023, 492 billion rubles are provided for civil science in 2023, 490 billion rubles in 2024, and 473 billion rubles in 2024. The total volume of the state program „Scientific and Technological Development”, taking into account the tasks of financing higher education, will exceed 1.1 trillion annually.
The declared parameters of the budget for the period 2023-2025 take into account the tasks of maintaining the volume of expenditures on research and development, the parameters of financing basic research, the salaries of scientists at the level of 200% of the average for the region, the Deputy Prime Minister specified.
He also said that next year it is planned to conduct research on more than 8.5 thousand topics, of which almost 8 thousand have passed through the examination of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The office of the Deputy Prime Minister reported that following the results of the meeting, a decision was made in July to complete the work on prioritizing the areas of scientific research, so that in August the final list of areas that will receive state funding would be approved.
