The Elysée wishes to reappoint the current director general of the French Development Agency (AFD), Rémy Rioux, subject to the agreement of the parliamentary committees concerned, according to a press release from the presidency published on Friday.
Created in December 1941 by General de Gaulle, the Caisse centrale de la France libre (CCFL), which will become AFD, is the oldest development institution in the world.
In 2021, AFD Group’s commitments amounted to more than 12 billion euros. The institution supports more than 4,000 development projects in all sectors in 115 countries.
